The eighth installment of the Pacific Northwest’s fastest growing MMA organization, Front Street Fights, will go down February 13, 2016 at CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho. The event will feature three Combat Fitness/SBG Idaho professional athletes, and will also mark the first ever title fight in the promotion’s young history.
CF/SBG Idaho featherweight (145 lb), Matt “The Stripling Warrior” Jones (4-1), will look to advance his win streak to five and capture his first championship as a professional, when he takes on Utah’s Josh Tyler (7-4). Since a decision loss in his professional debut nearly 18 months ago, Jones has been sensational, recording 4 straight submission victories. A renewed focus on his wrestling as well as the continued development of his already dangerous striking and submission skills have made Jones a dangerous man in all facets of the game. His skills will certainly be tested by the rugged Tyler, a Bellator veteran and student of the legendary Jeremy Horn. Tyler has won four of his past six fights and brings with him a wealth of valuable experience against strong competition.
In the evening’s co-main event, Combat Fitness/SBG Idaho bantamweight (135 lb), Brendon Raftery (4-2) looks to bounce back in a big way against Casey Johnson (3-0). Uncharacteristically flat in his last performance, a decision loss at FSF 6, Raftery looks to get back to the exciting, fast paced, technical style that make him one of the more promising prospects in Idaho. His opponent, Johnson, makes his return to the cage after a lengthy hiatus due to chronic knee injuries.
The first Combat Fitness/SBG Idaho pro to enter the cage that evening will be female bantamweight, Veta Arteaga. After a successful amateur career that saw her go 4-1 with three stoppages (2 KO, 1 submission), Veta will look to continue that success in the professional ranks, when she takes on Ashley Deen (0-1).
