Combat Fitness/SBG Idaho’s Shino VanHoose suffered a defeat in her Invicta debut, losing via first round guillotine choke to the second ranked atomweight (105 lb) in the world, Amber Brown.

After a few brief striking exchanges, that saw VanHoose land strong kicks to the head and body, Brown moved quickly to the clinch where she and VanHoose exchanged knees and jockeyed for position. Shino was able to reverse the position and take Brown to the mat, landing in side control, with her head caught in Brown’s arm. However, Brown was able to gain butterfly hooks and elevate as Shino attempted to step over into mount. From there she was able to lock her hands and close her guard, tightening the choke and securing the submission.

We’re incredibly proud of you Shino! You stepped up in a big way on just 10 days notice against one of the world’s best!

Shino steps right back in the cage, February 26 at Real Fighting Championships in Tampa, Florida.
