October 7th, 2016 SBG Idaho Coach Jesse Brock dropped a unanimous decision to Bekbulat Magomedov at WSOF 33 Friday night at the Municipal Auditorium Arena in Kansas City, Missouri. Brock struggled to find his range early on, against the larger Russian fighter, as Magomedov landed better strikes from distance and timely takedowns when Brock came forward too recklessly. However, the former Boise State wrestler showed his resilience and jiu-jitsu skills from his back by popping up to his feet after every Magomedov takedown. Entering the final round, Brock needed a finish and timed a Magomedov knee for a takedown, taking his back with less than 2 minutes left in the fight. Brock retained back control for a majority of the remaining 2 minutes but was unable to finish the choke before the end of the round.

Coach Brock is the epitome of what an SBG Coaches should be. He leads from the front not only by competing at the highest levels, but by practicing what he preaches day in and day out to the students and competitors here at SBG Idaho. While the result did not go the way we had hoped, there’s no doubt the Coach Jesse  will learn  from the experience and  come out an even better martial artist and leader at the gym!
