Combat Fitness/SBG Idaho athlete, Andrew Cruz made a successful pro debut last Friday night, March 13, at Steelfist Fight Night, but it did not come without adversity. Hit hard by a vicious standing elbow from Skylar Frazier several minutes into round number one, Cruz was in survival mode early. Rocked and bleeding badly, but showing a champion’s heart, Cruz was able to weather the storm and regain his composure. Abandoning his kicks and utilizing more lateral movement, Cruz landed a solid right hand that stunned Frazier with about 1 minute remaining in the round. That was all the opportunity needed, as Cruz was able to secure a takedown against the cage and advance to mount, where he landed solid punches and elbows that forced his opponent to turn belly down. From there Cruz sunk in a deep rear naked choke and coaxed the submission with just seconds remaining!
