The SBG Tribe was well represented last weekend at the IBJJF World Championship tournament in Long Beach, California. SBG HQ in Portland, SBG Montana, SBG Birmingham and of course SBG Idaho all sent competitors to the most prestigious tournament of the year. SBG Idaho brought Coach Parker Bossart, Stephanie Hernandez, and Riley Timmons, all competing in their very first World Championships!
Bossart fought a tough first match in the Blue Belt Super Heavyweight division, coming up short by advantages. Hernandez had a tough draw in the Female Purple Belt Light-Featherweight division dropping her first match via points to the eventual Bronze medalist, Maynne Freitas Correa of Gracie Barra. Timmons, in her first BJJ tournament ever, became SBG Idaho’s first ever IBJJF World’s medalist by taking Bronze in the 6 competitor, Female White Belt Heavyweight division! Quite an achievement in her first tournament! We are incredibly proud of all SBG competitors for the consistent hard work and training they put in. The experience and lessons they bring back from such a big tournament will prove invaluable to not only their own development, but to the development of each and every one of their teammates! We look forward to next year when SBG is sure to bring even more hardware home!!!
